I share with you the things that I love, worn like a scar. Close my eyes and lay back in the dark. I’ve lived, I’ve loved, I’ve learned. I chased my dreams. I’d die for the ones that I love. I’d give you anything.
Strange Vacation’s kickstarter reached over $1000 last night so I woke up this morning to a download link for the bonus song “Highway 85”. As to be expected, it’s incredible. I’m not going to post the audio because I like that it’s a special perk for everyone who’s a part of this. However, you can hear it on the vinyl when it’s released.
While quite a bit of money has been donated so far, they still have more than half way to go. Everyone needs to go check out the kickstarter and pledge something. Even if it’s just a couple of dollars it will help out.
I know I talk a lot about these guys and I post the kickstarter link all the time, but they’re a really special band to me and I want nothing more than for them to succeed. And I would absolutely love this album on vinyl. So, at least consider it.
Right when we finished this album late last year we announced that we would be pressing the album exclusively on limited edition 12” Vinyl’s. Since then we’ve been contacted by so many of you whether it be via, facebook, twitter, tumblr etc. asking when can they pre order the Vinyl. We wanted involve our fans who really love our band and would like to have a physical piece of our album, and work together to make this whole project come to life. That’s why we have chose to use kickstarter. Every person out there that pledges any amount of money will be included in the liner notes for the record. Because this record is for everyone. You guys make this happen. And always have. Thank you from the bottom of my heart from every person that supports our art, and makes things like this possible. As long as we have your support we will always continue to make more albums.
I just want everyone to donate so this actually happens. Chasm is one of the most incredible albums I’ve heard in a long time.
“Every person in this chamber can point to a teacher who changed the trajectory of their lives. Most teachers work tirelessly, with modest pay — sometimes digging into their own pocket for school supplies, just to make a difference. Teachers matter. So instead of bashing them, or defending the status quo, let’s offer schools a deal: give them the resources to keep good teachers on the job and keep the best ones. And in return, grant schools flexibility to teach with creativity and passion, and stop teaching to the test — and to replace teachers who just aren’t helping kids learn. That’s a bargain worth making.”—President BARACK OBAMA (via inothernews)
In the depths of the Michigan music scene, passionate musicians and undiscovered talents are plentiful. Standing out from the crowd is no easy task and when it happens, you know it’s something special. American Opera (John Bonham) is as passionate and talented as they come. There’s something genuine about him, behind the beard and beyond the guitar held close to his chest. From the separation of his previous band, Your Best Friend, a widely respected Michigan artist of 8 years, John started American Opera in August of 2011. It only takes one listen to be captivated by the honesty and compelling nature of his songs. The man is a lion heart and the music is every bit revealing of that. American Opera has the potential to be the best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be.
You can check out our interview with John below, as well as an acoustic session.
