I get small panic attacks when I have to schedule something/talk to someone on the phone. The ringing freaks me out and so does the voice on the other end. What even. I’m probably the only person who gets this.
“There’s a reason we all listen to punk rock instead of top 40. There’s a reason I’d rather be stage diving than at a bar. I think that most everyone I know involved in punk or hardcore is intrinsically fucked up on some level. There is something wrong with us. Maybe not “wrong”, but certainly different. Because of this, I think we all share a similar outlook and because of that, we share
similar experiences. I’m just writing songs about my life, but as it turns out, my life is pretty similar to a lot of other people’s lives and honestly, it feels good to know we’re going through this shit together.”—Soupy Campbell of The Wonder Years (via dixandstones) (via fuckyeahtwy) (via pillowrancher) (via violencejakeviolence) (via iamtheupsidedowncross) (via forever-fucked) (via effingryan) (via foundmyniche) (via warriorswillreign) (via thetigerglare) (via iwantchipotle) (via recklessalexa)
The following is a personal message from Mike Adams; the bassist of A Loss for Words. It is long but I plead you: please read this and then reblog it.
Hey everyone, I’m just posting this because I havent really mentioned this to many people, but my father recently passed away unexpectedly. He and I lived together and he was our biggest supporter and fan. He came to every show he could get to, and threw me 30 or 40 bucks whenever he could spare it when I was heading out on tour. The story is this; It’s been a little over a month and my landlord is trying to force me out of the apartment we lived in. Also I found out the car my dad bought just before he passed, which I believed he borrowed money from his brother for, has a loan on it. I found out in South Carolina, drove home, and got a job after the wake and funeral to pay for expenses. For some reason or other the life insurance is going to take a while to come in, and I’m estranged from my mother so it’s really tough right now. So I’m not asking for charity, and I’ve been working a full-time job since I got back from tour (for those giant assholes out there that might be dick enough to just post “GET A JOB”), I’m just letting you guys know I posted a bunch of my shirts and some other stuff on ebay and if you feel like helping out at all feel free to bid. This is pretty much most of my shit besides my bass which I need more than the shirts haha. The link is here: http://shop.ebay.com/mikeal4w/m.html
If the link doesn’t work just google ebay mikeal4w.
Thanks so much guys and god bless. - Mike
Also I plan on printing 25 or 30 limited AL4W shirts to commemorate my dad, I’ll let you know when they are available. Thanks again,
Please read this and if possible support him. If not then please spread the word around by reblogging. Mike is a wicked nice guy and deserves all the support we can give.
So I’m hosting something fun here on ista for the next couple of days! The wonderful Kaleigh of the etsy store Unexpected Expectancy has a $10 off coupon to give out for her beautiful store. I Just bought an adorable antique clock ring from her and I can’t wait to wear it around.

“Fire is motion. Work is repetition. This is my document. We are all, all we’ve done. We are all, all we’ve done. We are all, all defenses. Fire is motion. Is motion growth? And you are colder than oldness could ever be and you are bolder than buzzing bugs. My mama said my cousin Bucky’s so boldly bald ‘cause he never took his hat off. He kept that cap on even when swimming. i know there’s a lesson in there somewhere, something, nothing special ‘bout boys who smell like salami and boys who’ve never apologized, and you are colder than oldness could ever be and you are bolder than buzzing bugs.”
I’ve been thinking of a way to say thank you for making Battle Studies such a huge success out of the gate… I’ve also been thinking of a way to use tumblr as a means of posting some more substantial stuff… So here’s a very raw, live solo version of “Edge of Desire” I just recorded in my apartment as a way to show my gratitude to you all for extending my time in this amazing career you’ve helped me build.
I think if you were kind enough to spent the 13 bucks, you should get some free music for the next good while.
So here it is. A song about late night longing recorded at 3am. iPhone dinging in the background and all…(that’s how I knew the take was going to be worth sticking with, as the best takes always get interrupted.)
There is no reason to consider yourself a modern music fan if you haven’t heard this song from 2005’s Volcano. From the very early moments of the track you know it’s going to be unlike anything you’ve heard in awhile and it excites you for what your ears will continue to enjoy if you choose to check out the rest of this record and/or their other 3 full lengths and various EPs. Gatsby’s American Dream is a prime example of a group that somehow fell through the cracks of mainstream USA and the general population is worse off as a result.
Educate yourself about this band, they deserve more than they’ve been given.
